Synopsis

"Dreaming the Quiet Man" features interviews with admirers of John Ford, including Martin Scorsese, Peter Bogdanovicz, Jim Sheridan, William Dowling, and Joe McBride. The documentary includes captivating archival footage and rare photographs from the film's production. The film's primary setting is Ford's ancestral homeland of Connemara, Ireland, where his parents originated. Ford's cousins, the Feeney family, recount the story of his parents' emigration after the Great Famine and young Ford's 1922 return to Ireland, where he witnessed his cousins' house being burned by the Black and Tans.
