The movie *The Birthday Party* really doesn't have much going for it beyond some visuals and a glimpse of an older man’s posterior. Willem Dafoe gives it his best effort, but he's strangely easy to overlook. The birthday celebration that Sofia throws turns out to be lavish yet ultimately pointless—a description that also applies perfectly to the film itself.
