Synopsis

Eighteen-year-old Geri, a high school senior at an orphanage in Vratza, Bulgaria, is determined to attend university. With final exams approaching, graduation means she’ll have to leave the only home she’s known. As she confronts her past with her stepbrother, Geri begins to uncover the domestic violence that led to her family's breakdown and questions why her mother abandoned her and why she remained in the orphanage instead of being placed with a foster family. Torn, she considers inviting her mother to prom. Her ex-boyfriend, who urged her to drop out of school and emigrate to Germany, returns for the prom. The prom night is joyous, but hints of future challenges emerge. Can Geri escape her past or repeat old patterns?
