Synopsis

Born in the Northern Song Dynasty, Li Shishi lost her parents at four and was raised by Granny Li, a former comedian, before becoming a celebrated courtesan in Bianjing. She secretly loved the famous musician Zhou Bangyan. Emperor Huizong, disguised as a businessman, visited the brothel and was captivated by Shishi. She, in turn, fell for him, while also maintaining secret meetings with Jia Yi and Zhou Bangyan, making her the subject of ridicule. When the Jin army invaded and captured the emperor, Shishi donated her accumulated rewards as military rations to secure his release, remaining loyal to him and eventually becoming a Taoist priest. The Jin commander, admiring her, ordered her arrest, and she was discovered by the traitor Zhang Bangchang.
