Synopsis

Vera von Lehndorff, a Prussian noblewoman whose father, a leader in the anti-Nazi resistance, was executed during World War II, was discovered in 1959 by Italian photographer Ugo Mulas. After initial setbacks, she adopted the name Veruschka and became a leading model, widely regarded as one of the world's most beautiful women. She served as inspiration for Antonioni in "Blow-Up" and Dalí, appearing on covers of prominent magazines like Life, Vogue, and Queen, and photographed by renowned artists such as Avedon and Newton throughout the 1960s. In 1965, she began exploring "transfigurations," pioneering body art techniques where makeup transformed into elaborate body painting, evolving from feline and serpentine designs to representations of plants, minerals, African idols, and ultimately, a metallic form intended to transcend natural decay, as envisioned by film director Rubartelli for his films "Stop Veruschka" and "Trülzsch."
