Synopsis

Disheartened after a difficult year in their village near Kayseri – marked by damaged fruit trees from cold weather and a drastically reduced harvest due to a dry summer – two young men, Cemil and Osman, fear they won't be able to marry their fiancées, Fatmagül and Şifa. Their hopes are raised by the news that Ceylan, the daughter of a Turkish immigrant in Germany, is visiting. Planning to marry her and move to Germany, both men are complicated by the fact that they are already engaged. As they pursue Ceylan, she develops a close relationship with Erkin, an agricultural engineer working on improving the village's irrigation. With the village’s water problems solved, Ceylan decides against going to Germany and chooses to stay in her homeland permanently.
