Synopsis

It's the late 1970s. Cinematographer Anton Krastev and his wife Diana are separated by the Iron Curtain – she has fled to West Berlin with their son, Antoan, while he remains in Bulgaria. Diana believes Germany is the only place where Antoan can receive the medical care he needs. But Anton is unwilling to abandon his career, working with a prominent Communist film director. Under constant surveillance by the State Security Services, his communications are monitored and his connections to influential figures make him a target. Torn apart, Anton and Diana grapple with love, estrangement, and resentment. Eventually, Anton loses everything: his job, his wife, and his son through the shifting political landscape. Thirty years later, he films the story of his life. However, those now controlling the film are the same individuals who once relentlessly pursued him.
