After fleeing following the deaths of her husband and lover, Kasumi is struck by a car. Yoichi, driving her car, attempts to bury her as instructed by her colleague Kamata, unaware she is still alive. Yoichi offers Kasumi, who has nowhere else to go, a place at his home, beginning an unusual cohabitation between a woman who has committed murder and a man who has committed a hit-and-run. Yoichi, isolated and often mocked at work, finds his mundane life transformed by the beautiful and independent Kasumi. Conversely, Yoichi's quiet kindness offers Kasumi, struggling with alcoholism after marital unhappiness, a glimmer of hope. They find themselves deeply dependent on each other, falling in love. However, their fragile existence is slowly threatened by an impending disaster.
