Synopsis

Jope Ruonansuu, a once-overweight boy who endured school bullying, became a celebrated comedian and folk artist. A versatile entertainer, he was renowned for his impressions, able to convincingly imitate over 150 figures from Finland's elite. Jope’s rise mirrored the post-war "Rillumarei" culture, finding success during a period of national unity and growing in popularity as that unity evolved. Seeking a healthier life and to overcome childhood struggles, he underwent weight loss surgery. Sadly, he was later diagnosed with oesophageal cancer but continued working on various projects, including an anti-bullying campaign with the President of Finland, Sauli Niinistö. Their plan involved a joint visit to Syväkangas school in Jope's hometown of Kemi. Though Jope passed away before the visit, President Niinistö honored their commitment.
