Synopsis

This film explores the difficult situation of cotton farmers in central India who are impacted by Monsanto's genetically modified seeds. Unable to get loans from regular banks, the farmers are forced to take out high-interest loans from illegal lenders, leading to crippling debt. Poor crop yields and increased costs for fertilizer and water worsen their problems. Driven to desperation, some farmers have taken their own lives using Monsanto's pesticide – a tragedy that has resulted in over 200,000 deaths. Amidst this global crisis, Manjusha, the daughter of a farmer who was among the first to die by suicide, wants to become a journalist and reveal the causes of these tragedies. Eighteen years old and without guidance, she fights to give a voice to the powerless and protect their dignity in the face of this environmental and human disaster.
