I’m honestly taken aback by the production values; they rivaled those of major studio films, and certainly the visuals were well-executed. So, what went wrong? The story is the primary problem. It felt like a muddled script, not just confusing for the audience but seemingly perplexing even for the writers themselves. They appeared to struggle with developing and resolving their promising start. The focus seemed more on military operations than on the central conflict between humans and the monsters. I’m puzzled as to why an alien invasion isn't treated as a significant danger, yet fighting terrorism is prioritized. Similarly, the terrorists felt underdeveloped. It has absolutely nothing in common with what came before. In fact, I question whether it should even be considered a sequel to a film that achieved some recognition. The title suggests 'Dark Continent,' but the setting is clearly the Middle East—or perhaps North Africa, though the location isn't precisely defined. This was the director’s debut feature, and while the direction wasn’t terrible, the story remained my biggest concern. The actors performed adequately; it’s simply that the narrative let everything down. I believe this sequel is superfluous, so I wouldn't recommend watching it unless you're willing to see for yourself just how flawed it is. _3.5/10_
