This film was a slog; it’s something I won’t revisit, and I don’t think others should see it unless they have a deep interest in baseball combined with statistics or financial business dealings. The cast—Jonah Hill, Chris Pratt, Brad Pitt, and Philip Seymour Hoffman—led me to believe it would be at least somewhat engaging, if not genuinely enjoyable. When the movie started and made its focus clear as being about baseball, I was hoping for a lively and entertaining presentation. It seems Jonah Hill may have grown weary of being cast in comedic roles. I can think of one person who might find enjoyment from this film because they’re into baseball statistics, and without knowing that individual, I'd be completely lost trying to understand the movie’s purpose. It’s impossible to overstate how much this movie centers on numerical data and its potential to affect individuals within professional baseball.
