“Craig” (John Wayne) shows up in Sacramento, which is growing rapidly, after a disagreement on a riverboat, intending to establish his pharmacy. He’s not an unskilled practitioner, yet he struggles to locate suitable space. Fortunately, the woman responsible for soaking him earlier offers to lease him a storefront adjacent to her saloon. “Lacey” (Binnie Barnes) recognizes significant potential in this strong man, but her boyfriend, “Britt” (Albert Dekker), who considers himself the authority figure of the town, doesn't see things that way. The events that unfold from here proceed along a foreseeable course as they lead toward the ending, although there’s some appealing rapport between Wayne and Barnes during the process, alongside considerable playful antics. A number of recognizable performers are included to liven up the narrative as the trouble develops and our newcomer reveals how useful it can be to resolve disagreements with a bit of physical persuasion. The film's creation is fairly standard, but there was an attempt made on the visual presentation, and even the script occasionally displays some spark. There might be more musical numbers than necessary, yet I still found this energetic story about settling the goldfields to be enjoyable.
