I find myself differing from many others in that I rather enjoyed this film. Those anticipating a profound narrative filled with insightful moral lessons will likely feel let down. The story itself is engaging, though it feels somewhat fragile and tenuous at times. To my mind, it’s an adequate story driven by acceptable action and truly stunning visuals. I share the sentiment of those who consider it to be something of a B-movie. It has its flaws and occasionally struggles to maintain cohesion. Still, if you can set aside these concerns and simply appreciate it as visually engaging entertainment—and it moves along at a brisk pace—it proves quite satisfying. There are many moments of genuine beauty. The action is perfectly serviceable, and the plot avoids being another predictable B-movie cliché. The performances are generally in line with what one would expect from that level of production, though not terrible; once I adjusted my expectations for the film, they didn't bother me. Overall, I did like this movie, but I suspect you need to be a science fiction enthusiast—particularly someone who values visual spectacle—to connect with it.
