Synopsis

During World War II, this moving drama by Alan Parker examines love, sacrifice, and prejudice. It centers on Jack McGurn, a fugitive who finds work as a projectionist at a Los Angeles movie theater owned by Mr. Tanaka, a Japanese-American. A loving relationship develops between Jack and Mr. Tanaka’s daughter, Lily. Their romance faces opposition from her father, prompting them to secretly marry in Seattle.
