Synopsis

In the peaceful Inner Mongolia countryside, a dedicated farmer and his wife work to raise their three children under China's population restrictions. Hoping for a larger family, their lives change when the farmer rescues a stranded Russian truck driver from a lake. The farmer offers the foreigner shelter, expecting only a short visit. But the Russian becomes drawn to the quiet farm life and decides to stay. Initially, this new presence causes concern within the family, but they eventually welcome him. However, the arrival of the outsider brings significant changes to their community. The farmer, previously focused on his family and farm, now faces cultural differences, personal challenges, and unforeseen consequences that test their peaceful existence and force them to confront a rapidly evolving world.
