It’s surprising how many people are praising this film as something great. It seems like you can put anything on screen, and there will be someone who enjoys it. Linda Fiorentino was at least engaging to watch, though. I generally use a straightforward system: if a movie is entertaining, I give it a 10-star rating; otherwise, it gets a 1. In Beyond the Law, we mostly observe Sheen going through the motions of being the lead actor. It's as if everyone else in the film is performing around him. This includes the action sequences, which he seems to simply move through until the very end, when he enters a room and receives applause because those involved can finally finish this ordeal and proceed with their lives. I’m certain Sheen reviewed the script and thought of "Paycheck."
