I experienced *Back in Action* as something of an inconsistent film. It’s hard to say that I truly enjoyed it, but at the same time, it didn't leave me with a strong dislike either. The whole thing just felt underwhelming across the board. The return appearances of Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz are what make it appealing. Foxx and Diaz both deliver acceptable performances; Diaz’s is slightly better than Foxx’s. McKenna Roberts and Rylan Jackson are adequate in their roles, while Glenn Close, Kyle Chandler, Andrew Scott, and Jamie Demetriou—whose character feels particularly uneven—are passable, though they don't quite seem to belong. The biggest issues for me were the story and pacing; those are its weakest aspects as a 2025 release. I feel that this plot could have been told in a much shorter time, it felt like it wandered around unnecessarily. The humor also didn’t always land; I did appreciate the Manchester United reference, though!
