Lady Gaga’s vocal talent is undeniable and she has shown significant progress as an actress, yet this film didn’t resonate with me at all. Bradley Cooper's performance felt like he was intentionally trying to be obscure—almost as if he attended a class on how to be utterly baffling. Perhaps it was meant to suggest that his character and Sam Elliot shared a familial connection, though the attempt fell flat. I recognize it’s his project, and he should have creative freedom with his portrayal, but I personally didn't find it appealing. The only parts of this fourth version of _A Star Is Born_ that I found even remotely agreeable were the opening fifteen minutes and the closing fifteen. Those sections weren’t particularly good, but they had some merit. That wasn’t true for the rest of the movie. I can acknowledge why _A Star is Born_ won two Oscars related to music and might be able to grasp Gaga's Best Actress nomination, but I don’t see the justification for any other accolades. _Final rating:★★ - It had some elements that I liked, but it didn't come together well._
