Lady Gaga’s vocal talent is undeniable and she has shown considerable progress as an actress, yet this film didn’t resonate with me at all. Bradley Cooper's performance felt like he was intentionally trying to be obscure—perhaps attempting to make the connection between his character and Sam Elliot seem believable, though unsuccessfully. I understand it was his vision for the role, but I personally found it off-putting. The only parts of this, the fourth version of _A Star Is Born_, that I even remotely appreciated were the opening and closing fifteen minutes; they weren't great by any means, but I did find some merit in them. That wasn’t the case for the majority of the film. I can acknowledge why _A Star is Born_ won two Oscars related to music, and perhaps even grasp Gaga's Best Actress nomination, but beyond that, the accolades don’t make sense to me. _Final rating:★★ - It had a few elements I liked, but ultimately it was disappointing._
