Synopsis

Captain Arrellanos persists in his efforts to govern California, employing Carmelo, a newcomer to the town, to assassinate the governor. Diego and Bernardo overhear the plot but refrain from immediate action, choosing instead to identify the other conspirators. The governor, showing signs of recovery, now spends his days seated on the patio, an occurrence that prompts Don Alejandro to host a celebratory gathering in his honor.
