Synopsis

Diego paused, catching snippets of Varga’s conversation with his aide. The de la Vega hacienda, Varga was saying, offered such ease and comfort that he planned to establish it as his permanent base. The thought struck Diego sharply: his father would return soon, and defend their home with a ferocity bordering on death. Faced with this impending threat, Diego resolved to attempt a perilous scheme to expel the Eagle from their lands.
