Synopsis

Ramon Santil had recently inherited his father’s ranch and estates, along with a grim tidings. The magistrate informed him of a substantial tax, payable immediately or forfeit the land. Ramon possessed no funds to meet the demand. Driven to desperation, he sold his entire herd to Carlos Urista, a newcomer to the town whom Diego suspected to be in the employ of the Eagle.
