I felt compelled to share my thoughts on this series because I can't understand the praise surrounding it; it seems like everyone else loves it. After finishing the first season, I honestly can’t find anything positive to say about it. The characters don't experience any repercussions for their actions, which are often hard to believe. It feels like every issue is resolved by simply killing someone, and that's a lazy writing choice. To buy into Joe’s behavior, you have to accept that Beck, who insists she has no money but lives in an amazing apartment in NEW YORK CITY, is completely oblivious. The characters are flat and unappealing, the performances are bland, and the subplot involving Paco and his mother feels like a tokenistic inclusion of people of color handled without care. The portrayal of this vulnerable woman at the center of everyone’s attention is a tired cliché that *You* doesn't manage to improve upon.
