Initially, things seemed encouraging; there was a sense that it could be like Buffy set in the Wild West, or perhaps Supernatural with a female protagonist. However, the show then prioritized political messaging over enjoyment. The characters devolved into predictable stereotypes, and any playful humor disappeared, giving way to pronouncements about empowerment and left-wing viewpoints—the very things that often lead to movies and television shows falling flat. Ultimately, it ceased to be entertaining and didn’t succeed, which was hardly surprising given how insistent everything seemed to be on delivering "THE MESSAGE."
