Synopsis

The Russian Arctic represents one of the planet’s most challenging environments, yet it sustains a remarkable array of wildlife, including polar bears, lemmings, arctic foxes, and walruses. As late August arrives, imposing muskoxen bulls assemble to vie for dominance during the mating season. Each bull can weigh upwards of 400 kilogrammes and charge with surprising speed – up to 40 kilometres an hour; the force of a direct collision resonates for over a kilometre.
