The storylines centered on the main female character, her mother, and her aunt proved engaging and left me wanting more. Conversely, the other plot threads felt dull and amounted to background filler. Based on the initial description and early scenes, I understood what challenges she was facing and why she had relocated from the city. It seemed evident that she needed to address certain personal problems; however, her romantic relationship didn't align with her established personality. Given her difficulty in trusting others and past hurts, the romance felt rushed and lacked meaningful conversation for a series intended to be dialogue-driven. A relationship began quickly before any real exploration of her underlying issues took place. It would have been preferable to focus on interactions with the townspeople instead, which could have fostered a more suitable setting for her personal growth. Ultimately, the resolution of her problems felt superficial and incomplete. I also found it jarring that the characters’ backstories were set in high school; there was a disconnect between those earlier events and their adult lives. If the flashbacks had been situated during university years, perhaps it would have created a stronger sense of connection, understanding, and relevance to their present-day struggles.
