It’s disappointing to see this series not living up to its potential. The creators would have been better off emulating the lighthearted and enjoyable feel of the 1973 film; that one was genuinely entertaining! This adaptation has fallen into the trap of excessive seriousness, similar to what happened with the Daniel Craig Bond movies, making it a burden to sit through. The earlier movie, featuring Yul Brynner and Richard Benjamin, understood the key elements: simplicity and enjoyment. Sticking to those principles leads to a much more satisfying time watching.
