This is one of those fantasy series that's difficult to stick with. The conversations feel forced and frequently nonsensical, characters act in strange ways for unclear reasons, and the storyline lacks depth. However, it becomes somewhat watchable as it progresses, largely thanks to a really nice choice of cello pieces used throughout.
