Some viewers considered the adaptation sacrilegious, while others took offense to it. I’m not one for broad statements, but when something provokes such strong reactions from groups known for their intense opinions, I become intrigued. Lindelof's version isn't part of the established storyline and that’s perfectly acceptable. The comic book continuation, officially recognized, concluded last Wednesday with the release of Doomsday Clock #12, which finally presents the anticipated encounter between Dr. Manhattan and Superman. However, I found it to be an excellent series. He reimagined the world from the comics and gave it a distinct perspective. He created a compelling enigma surrounding some characters from the original narrative, connecting it to important themes that have been present since the very first episode and continue to explore decades of lingering animosity. The current understanding is that this will be a single season, which I’m fine with. While I would consider another season, I believe the story they presented was complete. And trust me, I looked forward to watching it each week from the beginning. My only reservation—and why I didn't award it a perfect score—is that Lindelof compromised Dr. Manhattan’s character in an attempt to make his romantic storyline function. He diminished him significantly. I appreciate this was his artistic choice, but are we seriously suggesting that Ozymandias, portrayed as the most intelligent individual on Earth, couldn't contain such a powerful being, yet a group of prejudiced individuals could? Really? Despite this, it remains an impressive show. If you haven’t seen it, begin watching immediately.
