Synopsis

In the autumn of ten thirteen, King Sweyn set sail with a fleet of Danish and Viking longships, intent on seizing London Bridge. Among them sailed Askeladd’s forces, levied by the Danish army. Yet, following the treachery of Thorkell the Tall, a Viking renowned for his formidable strength, the bridge had become invulnerable. Askeladd spoke to Thorfinn, promising him a duel should he succeed in slaying Thorkell.
