Synopsis

Askeladd paused his involvement in the conflict with England. Seeking a fresh means of gain, he witnessed a minor battle between the Franks and conceived a scheme to pilfer their hoard. He dispatched Thorfinn, a sixteen-year-old who had hardened into a ruthless Viking, as a messenger ahead of him.
