Synopsis

Canute's retinue reached York for the Imperial Council. He had intended to confront King Sweyn, but the monarch was under the watchful eye of the Jomsviking warriors, the most formidable force in the North, who kept Canute under close surveillance. With tensions reaching a dangerous peak, Askeladd devised a scheme. Separately, Thorfinn found himself reunited with someone who remembered the man he once was.
