Synopsis

At Bicêtre, Vidocq was reunited with Henri Desfossés. Wounded in the leg, a deliberate injury to avoid being chained, Vidocq confided in Desfossés the existence of a tunnel dug within the courtyard of the asylum. He revealed that the inmates posed a greater threat than the guards themselves, and that Annette’s hired coachman demanded immediate payment. Vidocq now faced a return to prison, compelled to retrieve funds confiscated from him.
