Synopsis

Two counterfeiters blackmailed Vidocq: he must either aid them in killing an English messenger – a transaction intended to exchange forged English currency for French – or face denunciation. Adding urgency, Flambart was nearby. And Annette’s godfather, convinced Vidocq was a royalist conspirator, could not be allowed to learn the truth.
