Synopsis

Detective Chief Inspector Vera Stanhope arrives at a grim scene: the charred remains of a body found within an abattoir incinerator. The forensic evidence is scant, yet Vera is deeply troubled to recognize the victim as Detective Constable Harry Fenton, a well-regarded officer from the Northumberland & City Fraud Unit.
