Synopsis

Detective Chief Inspector Vera Stanhope is called to a grim discovery: the body of a chip shop co-owner has been found within his own freezer. The deceased appeared to be a man of considerable success, a devoted family man; yet as Vera begins to piece together the truth, she uncovers a tangled web of secrets, deceit, and deeply troubling actions. The investigation quickly reveals that this enigmatic entrepreneur had amassed debts, betrayed commitments, shattered lives, and intruded upon a family
