Synopsis

Lisl Auman found herself trapped inside a patrol car as a police officer was shot. Despite this circumstance, she was found guilty of murder and given a life sentence. The story caught the attention of Hunter Thompson, who, along with *Vanity Fair* contributing editor Mark Seal, began to look into the case.
