It’s easily the strongest vampire series available right now. Seeing Ian Somerhalder advertised made me assume it would be another installment in the vein of "Vampire Diaries"—a show I didn't enjoy—but my fears were unfounded; this is something entirely different. The program places a greater emphasis on the scientific explanations behind vampirism. People who are drawn to shows like "Vampire Diaries," “The Originals,” and other teen dramas centered around vampire romances probably won’t find this appealing. However, if you appreciate more mature films such as "30 Days of Night", then it should suit your tastes. I found myself completely engrossed from the very beginning. Also, Ian Somerhalder gives a really strong performance.
