I have to admit, I enjoy this show—a great deal. As a male viewer, I typically steer clear of anime aimed at younger audiences. My preference is for animation with plenty of female figures, curves, impressive special effects, and better fight scenes. This series, **Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!** (_Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai!_), didn't really register on my radar until people on social media—specifically those from the liberal Left—started criticizing the character Uzaki-chan’s physical attributes; her breasts. That seemed to be all they could focus on, with their cynical perspective. The character was being used to encourage men to donate blood, but that point appeared lost on this group of self-proclaimed feminists. I was thrilled when the country disregarded the online negativity and kept the image as a promotion. Once the controversy died down, I checked out the series on a website dedicated to animation. After watching a few episodes, it became clear those people complaining about the character had no sense of how harmless Uzaki-chan really is. The show quickly drew me in. There wasn't anything I disliked. I appreciated how outgoing Uzaki-chan was. I liked how she irritated the male protagonist with her unconventional behavior. The situations that arise from Uzaki’s actions were amusing, particularly when they caused Sakurai to be embarrassed. I also found the friends of both leads entertaining; they seemed determined to pair up Uzaki and Sakurai. It was fun watching the two main characters struggle to acknowledge their feelings for each other and how they tried unsuccessfully to deny it. Above all else, I appreciate that there’s absolutely no social justice ideology, feminism, or critical race theory present—**it's a welcome change**. It's simply entertainment; and *it is so* refreshing. >barely holding back tears< I definitely plan on watching the next season. I think it will be interesting to see what happens.
