It’s often through questioning that we gain understanding, and that understanding then prompts us to question even more. This proved very effective… There are times in life—and sometimes during events—when we find ourselves reevaluating things, experiencing moments of clarity. These can happen within our families, among friends, or even concerning our beliefs. *Under the Banner of Heaven* was a production that sparked such an experience for me, prompting renewed questioning of religious institutions. The actors were clearly well-chosen, and Andrew Garfield delivered a performance that surpassed expectations. While his initial portrayal felt somewhat off, he truly came into his own after a few episodes, conveying a palpable sense of internal struggle. Daisy Edgar-Jones, whom I was seeing for the first time, is now an actress whose work I actively seek out; I've begun watching other projects she’s been in. We also see familiar faces like Sam Worthington and Wyatt Russell taking on roles that are different from what we might expect. It shares qualities with productions such as *Manhunt: Unabomber*, *Fractured*, and *The Hunter’s Prayer,* but showcases a more intense side of Sam Worthington. Wyatt Russell's performance echoes his work in *Overlord* and *The Woman in the Window*; I had hoped for something less formulaic, with fewer dramatic flourishes. While the script and editing can feel somewhat dense, and the cinematography is quite striking, you adjust to it over time. There’s a risk when getting completely immersed in narratives of this kind, but the series effectively illustrates the consequences of failing to challenge religious corruption or the exploitation of people under the guise of faith. It's an illuminating look at Mormonism’s position within history. I don’t consider myself a film critic, just someone who enjoys sharing their thoughts about movies. My thanks to everyone involved in this production.
