The video game adaptation Twisted Metal manages to be amusing at times, though it’s a familiar story: enjoyment takes a back seat to what the filmmakers seem determined to convey. The protagonist, who initially seems appealing, consistently finds himself framed by feminist perspectives. This pattern applies to many of the central male figures throughout the show's run. It’s unfortunate because there are elements reminiscent of Mad Max combined with Monty Python that could have made for a truly enjoyable experience. Ultimately, it’s oddly engaging, but the constant insistence on incorporating gender politics becomes wearisome.
