In the early hours of February 4, 1999, Amadou Diallo, a twenty-two-year-old immigrant from Guinea (born September 2, 1975), died after being shot by four plainclothes officers of the New York City Police Department: Sean Carroll, Richard Murphy, Edward McMellon, and Kenneth Boss.
