I rated this series an 8 overall, factoring in that the first season earned a perfect score while the second fell to a 6. The initial installment proved captivating and easy to watch straight through. However, the second season was disappointing. As with many streaming shows, there’s enough content here for a really good movie broken up into episodes designed to keep you turning pages. This format gives writers room to develop characters properly and address any gaps in the storyline. But, mirroring what often happens with film sequels—consider *Jaws 2* as an example—the follow-up isn't quite as strong; in this case, that’s season two. The second season simply didn't put in the effort seen in the first. I found myself unsure of the whereabouts or fates of certain characters, and it wasn't just about the final scene. The anticipation surrounding the Cartel/Liverpool gang was so intense that even Jack seemed visibly shaken. Ultimately, they proved to be as intimidating as the security guards hired for the poker game. In contrast to season one, which dedicated an entire episode to flashbacks explaining Jack’s backstory and why Frank and Whitey were sent to kill him, there was no such exploration of the Liverpool gang or the significant reveal about their parentage. The Amish-like community felt exploited for pointless violence meant only to shock. I plan to watch season three, hoping it will resolve the cliffhanger and also address the plot issues in season two, providing closure for characters like Denise, Nick, and Elizabeth. I did appreciate one aspect of the Amish-like setting: the paintball girls—they might have singlehandedly raised my rating from a 5 to a 6.
