Synopsis

Deep in the woods near Three Pines, a man lies, appearing to be the victim of a brutal lynching. Inspector Gamache discovers him there and is struck by a chilling question: could such savagery reside within the seemingly peaceful community? Simultaneously, Gamache's search for Blue unearths a horrifying truth that shatters his understanding of the world.
