I’ve only seen one episode, and I honestly can’t say whether I’ll continue watching because it is... wow! From what I could tell in the first installment, there seems to be a secret group of scientists around the globe engaged in questionable activities, and the military are portrayed as the heroes who need to enlist an unassuming scientist to act as a mole. Apparently, this is all necessary to prevent some kind of catastrophic event involving calamari. There’s also a woman who communicates with what I assume is Buddha and insects, and she possesses the ability to shatter glass for her ant companions. You just have to take her word for it; she can do ♪ magic! She's going to reach out and- Additionally, she has this unsettling power to drive scientists to madness and suicide by presenting them with test data that hasn’t even been collected yet. It’s possible she’s a visionary, someone with psychic abilities, or perhaps a seductive time-traveling being from another planet who wants to consume human organs. Seriously, what is this nonsense, and how has it earned such high ratings and so much positive attention? I don't expect every series to explain everything right away, but I do expect them not to be completely absurd. If this isn’t some kind of anti-science message supporting the military, then I must be the reincarnation of the Queen of England. P.S.: I also began watching the first episode of the Netflix version and it's just as ridiculous. Are people watching this purely for its absurdity, or is it because they are science skeptics who want to believe that we scientists are part of a cult performing sacrifices to our science deity every six days? Surely there’s more substance here somewhere, right? There has to be something more to justify all the acclaim surrounding this 3 BODY series. P.P.S.: I just read the synopsis on TMBD and I'm finished.
