Synopsis

The climb was arduous, each step a testament to Gordon’s failing strength. Toby watched, a knot of worry tightening in his chest. He had heard the words, sharp and dismissive, spoken by Gordon earlier – a pronouncement that chipped away at Toby’s own sense of worth, labeling him inadequate. Now, seeing his friend struggle, the memory threatened to paralyze him. He braced himself, positioning his hands for leverage. With a surge of effort, he pushed against Gordon's back, willing him upward.
