Synopsis

A tremor of fear ran through Samson at the sound. Thomas had discovered his particular aversion – fireworks – a secret now brought to light. Mistaking Cyril the Fogman’s warning detonator for a burst of pyrotechnics, Samson was seized by a sudden terror. He fled with Bradford into the swirling fog, becoming hopelessly lost. Yet, he found himself drawn onward, ultimately following the spectacle of Sir Robert Norramby's fireworks display at Ulfsted Castle under the cloak of night.
