Gordon needed just one more try to break his Express record. But when Henry’s firebox became blocked, forcing him to rely on ordinary coal, Gordon felt a pang of guilt. He returned to Henry and offered to swap tenders, ensuring Henry could run smoothly once more, even if it meant sacrificing his own chance at the record.
