The series felt like an endless contest to see who could claim the most suffering. It seemed to be constantly asking, whose experiences were the most tragic? Who deserved the most sympathy? This competition for sadness became a significant weakness, with several storylines attempting to overshadow the central narrative of the three main characters. The emotional arc of the characters was disrupted, and attention strayed from what should have been the focus. Certain reactions felt absurd and insincere when characters were required to respond to multiple unfortunate events simultaneously. This issue also affected the peripheral relationships within the story; there was simply too much extraneous involvement that detracted from the core plot's effectiveness. Aside from the pervasive sadness, a few romantic subplots felt out of place and awkwardly inserted. Mi Jo and Seon Woo’s romance unfolded alongside all the other hardships, but their storyline was poorly executed – tasteless, awkward, gaudy, and most notably lacking any genuine spark; it proved to be the weakest element. The series also relied too heavily on contrived plot developments that could have been handled more organically. A prime example of this was Seon Woo’s arrival and his initial connections with other characters. While visually appealing, the drama struggled to establish a distinct personality or purpose. The central trio were well-developed, while the supporting cast felt merely adequate.
